Workshop Description: In Arduino Workshop, teachers will learn how to integrate the microcontroller platform into their classroom. The Arduino is a flexible, open-source microcontroller platform designed to make it easy to use electronics in projects. With an almost unlimited range of input and output add-ons, sensors, indicators, displays, motors, and more, the Arduino offers countless ways to create devices that interact with the world. Teachers will start off with an overview of the Arduino system but quickly move on to coverage of various electronic components and concepts. Hands-on projects will reinforce what is learned and apply that knowledge.

About Dr. J. Miles Canino
Dr. J. Miles Canino has been a faculty member at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for three years within the Mechanical Engineering Department. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, where he focused his studies on powered prosthetic limbs, human-machine interfacing, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. At Rose-Hulman, Dr. Canino instructs courses related to mechatronics, dynamical systems, and advanced system modeling. His current research focuses on rehabilitation robotics and developing assistive technologies. He serves as the advisor to the robotics teams and advises numerous projects aimed at creating affordable medical devices. Dr. Canino believes that meaningful learning requires memorable experiences and that complex theoretical teachings are meaningless without practical contextualization.
